Atop The Mountain’s Biggest & Best Thrill Hill

We were skiing on a “bluebird day” as the Canadians like to say, enjoying the spectacular Whistler-Blackcomb ski resort when my local friend Phill announced that “we’re going to Seventh Heaven!”
Heck, I thought I was already in it.
But, as I was about to learn, I was about to be knee deep in it.
Seventh Heaven is a ski run on Blackcomb mountain. It’s at the top of the mountain, in fact.
And I was in heaven the moment I arrived. As we got off the lift chair, a staffer was there to sweep the snow off our skis.
Let me repeat that: a staffer was there to sweep the the snow off our skis!
I have never, ever seen this at any other ski resort and was blown away by it. Still am, I fact.
When I mentioned this to Phil, he just shrugged his shoulders in a nonchalant kind of way, as if this were the most natural thing in the world.
We then skied over to the lookout and were were above the clouds. If that’s not a pause-and-enjoy-the-heck-out-of-this-moment, I don’t know what one is, folks. I paused, unable to move, and stayed there for several minutes.
Eventually, Phil brought me back down to Planet Earth, and what happened the rest of the day became and still remains a blur (although I am pretty certain we went to The Longhorn for ski apres!). We went on a gondola that provided more spectacular views, and by this time I was just a passenger in what seemed a fantasy life.
I did crack a little joke when we got off the chair at another lift.
“What, no brooms!?,” I said when we got off the chair.
Cheers!
