Winter Rain Storms Give Way To Warmth And Sunshine

If you’re planning a winter trip to Los Angeles and Southern California, then you will be glad to know that – for the time being, at least – we are back to our normal weather pattern.
After 10 days of rain, the sun is out again and the temperature is warm. It’s in the low 70s in the daytime and I’m back to driving with the top down on my convertible.
I knew this would be the case, of course, as I pointed out in this daily travel blog of a couple weeks ago during our multi-day rainfest. While rain is common here in L.A., this time of the year, it was certainly unusual for it to rain so much. If I were a tourist, I would have been looking out the window saying “I though it never rains here!”
Well it does but don’t worry about it ruining any of your upcoming travel plans. I’m writing this the last weekend in January and the next seven days calls for five bright and sunny days and a couple of cloudy ones. Which here means by the time those days arrive, they will likely also be bright and sunny.
Even if rain does come again (and it is most assuredly going to happen) don’t let it dampen your travel spirit. Usually, it rains here late evenings and overnight and is gone by the next day.
One thing I do recommend when you are visiting Los Angeles, whether it’s raining or not, and that is to NOT rent a car. Not only is traffic terrible but the road signage is worse and navigation systems can send you through neighborhoods to make left turns on busy streets.
Instead, stay in different places when you’re in town. If you want to go to Hollywood and see the Walk of Fame and put your hand and footprints into at the Chinese Theater or go to Universal Studios, then stay in Hollywood. A day or two later move to Santa Monica or the neighborhood you want to visit.
And don’t sweat the weather. It will likely be nice and sunny.
Cheers!
