Party Time Is Not Every Time, Even At The Beach

Normally, I would consider a perfect Sunday to go something like this: I’m at the beach, I go for a run, the sun is out and in the afternoon there’s a party.
Yet on this Sunday, while I was at the beach and I did go for a run, it was overcast and there was no party. In fact, the day was calmer than the light ocean breeze blowing off the Pacific.
And on this day, at least, that made for a perfect Sunday.
This was the case for a couple of reasons. For starters, the U.S. Open golf was on TV and if it was a brilliant, sunny day, I would have felt guilty being inside watching it. After Saturday’s wild round (which I missed because it was sunny and there was a party) I really wanted to watch it.
As a duffer, I enjoy seeing the pros struggle to play the game. Plus, I don’t like Dustin Johnson (he seems to get the hottest women, from Natalie Gulbis to Paulina Gretzky so I’m naturally jealous, tho it must be said in his favor he was the only golfer who did not whine at the USGA on Saturday) and I wanted to watch him fold in the tournament.
Secondly, I was starting a new Public Relations freelance project on Monday. I had to be in the office at 9 a.m., and that’s not something I have done in a while. I did not want to have a wild Sunday happening around me because I would either be boring while trying to ignore it or most likely I would have been pulled into it with one eye on the time figuring out when I could have my last drink.
I couldn’t stand the temptation!
So sometimes, a cloudy and boring day – even at the beach – is a perfect as a wild partying sunny day.
Cheers!
