Mykonos, Ios & Santorini The World’s Prime Summertime Party Place

The 4th of July is behind me and while there are fun places and events to be at all over the planet, there is one spot that stands out above all: the Greek Islands.
Greece in July is – to someone like me with a PubClubber’s mentality – utopia. It’s the ultimate party paradise, a palace with people from all over the world who converge on Mykonos, Ios and Santorini (and a few other islands) for a couple weeks of total summer fun.
Why go anywhere else when the entire world comes to you? You’ll meet people from all over the planet, and they rotate like the lamb on a spit at George’s Gyros shop (all gyros shops in the Greek Islands are gamed George’s, by the way) every few days. You meet fun people, play and party with them, and the next couple of days meet more fun people.
You’ll run into a few of them on another island but mostly it’s a revolving door of worldwide party travelers that will have you laughing and smiling for your entire two weeks.
Oh, and you’ll need to spend at least two weeks in Greece. You’ll want at least five days on Mykonos, four to five on Santorini, another three to four on Mykonos on your way back to Athens, and another day here or there on, say Ios (if you really want to party), or perhaps Hydra just outside of Athens.
If you’ve got a lot of time, you’ll want to include Corfu, largely because of its legendary toga parties at the Pink Palace. It’s just that it’s tough to get from Corfu to Mykonos/Santorini, or vice-versa.
Oh man I’m getting fired up just thinking about it. I can’t wait until I make my next trip to Greece and it will be in July.
Cheers! Or as they say in Greece, “Yamas!”
