It’s No Winter Wonderland For This Transplanted Californian

Let it snow, let it snow!
Well, only when I travel specifically to get to snow.
I like snow and enjoy snow sports, skiing in particular. I love ski resorts and ski towns – in particular ski apres, which is like a lively Happy Hour at another place – and all the fun that comes with being in a skiing/snowboarding environment.
When I don’t like snow is when it comes to me. Because that means I’m in a really cold environment without all the benefits. Namely, all the things I mentioned in the above sentence.
Being in a place where it just snows, is not very pleasant if you ask me. Everything becomes a challenge. Simply going outside requires putting on layers of clothes, boots, gloves, a toboggan or hat, a jacket, etc. Plus you always have the danger that you will slip and fall, busting your behind or conking your head on concrete.
Then there is driving, which presents its own hazards. Like putting on the brakes only to have nothing happen; it’s too easy to wind up on your side in a ditch. Plus, not all drivers are as good as me behind the wheel and I’m on constant alert for others on the road. The ones that drive me crazy the most are those whom seem oblivious to the conditions and drive through snow, sleet and ice as if it’s a beautiful summer day.
And speaking of sleet, there’s always that to contend with, as well as slush. Hate both of ’em.
Fortunately, I live in Southern California where the only snow we see is when we go to the mountains. That’s the way I prefer it, when I go to it rather when it coms to me.
Cheers!
