After A Brief Panic, A Return To The Classic WP System

It was a late afternoon on the day before the winter solstice and I had just posted an article on PubClub.com.
I got up to refill my water glass and when I returned, something strange had happened – the post I had just made looked odd in WordPress and furthermore, I could not see the text or even edit it.
“Oh now,” I said, “I’ve been hit by Guttenberg!”
I’m posting this hear instead of some article about a great destination or experience around the world because several of my fellow travel bloggers are likely to experience the same thing. And I want to help ease them through the transaction.
For the previous couple of months, I had seen things about it on WordPress and had tried to do some research but all WP put out was a bunch of corporate-speak without explaining what was different about it and what changes were coming and providing any tutorials or tips on how to use it.
And then like an arctic blast, I got hit with it full in the face. Without warning. And without and visible option to do anything but use it. Oh, I gave it a try but with everything divided into subdivisions – WordPress calls these things blocks, and stated they would be my “new best friends.”
Well, I wanted to block this new system, so I sent and e-mail to the support team of PubClub’s web host, ImFORZA in El Segundo, CA. First, they instructed me to clear my cache to be able to edit the posts. I had also noticed on a WP post that by installing a Classic plug-in, users could go back to using what it calls the “Classic” system.
Since I couldn’t figure out anything on this new system, I asked ImFORZA to do the instal for me. The person did, and in about five minutes after me sending my first e-mail to support. How’s that for service!
So my advice to fellow travel bloggers and WP users is to install that Plug-In in order to get back to “normal.” ImFORZA said it plans to offer us clients a Guttenberg lesson in its office (with pizza and El Segundo craft beers, I suggested!) but until then, I’m relieved to be back to the old system.
Eventually, I will try and learn Guttenberg but for now, keep enjoying this travel blog and all the articles on PubClub written in the traditional WP system.
Cheers!
