A Couple Days Of The Weather Blues

I know they song says it never rains in Southern California in the summertime, and we’re not in the summertime now, but it’s not supposed to rain in Southern California in November or December, either.
Yes as I’m sitting here, late November heading in December, rain is pounding the pavement on the walkway in front of me.
It’s such an unusual site, especially since the past few weeks have been nothing but sunny and drop-dead gorgeous.
I have never been much of a rain person. I don’t like it. Who could, I wonder. I mean I like getting wet – in the ocean, a pool, even in the shower to some degree – but not when I walk outside.
My friend from England likes it when it rains in L.A. Says it reminds her of home. She must have lived in a dark and wet place, I say (Notthingham). Then again, she takes an umbrella with her when the sun is out so try and figure her out, right?
Everything comes a halt when it rains in Southern California. Especially the traffic. People act as if there is some strange substance falling out of the sky, which is really unusual because most of the people in Southern California are from places where it rains a lot (the Midwest and East Coast). It seems as if when they move out here, they forget all about rain and how to drive in it.
People also do not go out when it rains here. The don’t go to restaurants, they don’t go to bars and they even don’t go shopping.
That’s probably because they know it will soon pass and why do those things when you can do them again in a day or two. So why bother to deal with it now?
Soon enough, it will be nice and sunny again and we can go back to our normal “life’s a beach” lifestyle.
Cheers!
