Rain Won’t Go Away In Los Angeles This Winter

If you’re looking for a warm weather and sunny place to travel to this February, don’t come here to Los Angeles.
In an unusual weather pattern, we are being washed away by unprecedented rain. Literally. As I write this, a large part of Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu is closed due to rock and mudslides. This past weekend, streets were rivers (LA generally gets so little rain, there is poor drainage). I was walking down a sidewalk and the water was running over the tops of my shoes.
Not only that but the rain is lasting for days. Typically, it will rain all day for once or twice in January or February but not only is it raining all day, but it’s day after day. At this moment it has been raining for three straight days with another two forecast for more rain. And after a short break, it’s going to rain again.
On the weekend.
In an earlier blog here, I posted the rain doesn’t bother me in Los Angeles because I know the sunshine is returning soon and it won’t rain again for 10 months. That theory, however, is being challenged by all these winter storms.
No doubt, months of sunshine will return to L.A. But not now, so if you’re planning on traveling to Los Angeles for a sunny vacation, wait until after February.
