Yachtly Crew Helps People To ‘Escape’ At Lobster Rock Festival

I managed to “Escape” from reality one fall Sunday and wound up on a yacht rock trip on the Redondo Beach (California) waterfront.
I was at Lobster Rock, a lobster and beer festival and the headliner band was Yachtly Crew, which plays a unique type of “yacht” music that’s catching fire here in Los Angeles (and Florida, too, I hear).
Yachtly Crew’s “signature” cover tune is “Escape,” which is more popularly known as the Pina Colada song. The band wore captain hats, captain shirts, white pants and blue blazers. The looked as if they should be playing old people’s music at a yacht club but instead rocked the festival and provided that “Escape” for not just myself but a few hundred other people from this Los Angeles South Bay Beach Cities.

While there, chasing around the saxophone player to get a picture as he ran through the crowd to play and watching the people jump up and down and sing along to the familiar songs, it occurred to me that these festivals are a great way to enhance your travel experiences.
Nearly every city or town in America has these festivals throughout the year. Most of them take place in the summer and here in Los Angeles – which is comprised of 86 different cities and that doesn’t even include Orange County – there are hundreds of them.
There are also festivals in just about every other country in the world, too. In fact, as I write this, Oktoberfest is taking place in Munich. You can’t get a much better festival than that big beer tents party.
I advise that when you travel, you should check out to see is there are any festivals taking place when you’re going to be in a destination.
You just might wind up having your own “Escape” to a bar called O’Malley’s with a band like Yachtly Crew.
Cheers!
