Cocktails & Craft Brews Seeks To Attract PubClubbing Travelers

Some cruise ships have their own breweries on board and hotels are making their own spirits and beers. Here’s a rundown of five of the latter around the world
• Tabacon Thermal Resort & Spa, Costa Rica
In the heart of the Costa Rican rainforest near the base of Costa Rica’s Arenal Volcano, Tabacon Thermal Resort & Spa has partnered with local brewery 5inco Amgos Cerveceria to create a proprietary craft beer unique to the resort. The ‘IPAva’ brew is an IPA with 5.2% ABV, made with wild flavors and tropical aromas characteristic of the rainforest and resort’s thermal springs. It is produced in the nearby village of San Carlos and will be launching at the resort during the World Cup in June. As an added bonus, each time Costa Rica scores a goal in the games, hotel guests receive a complimentary bottle of the brew. So drink up and root for Costa Rica!

• The Perry Hotel, Stock Island Marina, Key West, FL
Key West is a drinking town and on Stock Island Marina, just over the bridge from downtown Key West, the Perry Hotel has partnered with Brew Detroit to create three special craft beers: Boat Dog Lager, Stock Rock Wheat Ale, and Shrimp Road APA (the nearby dock is known for being a haven for shrimp boats). The beers are available on draft at the hotel, which serves more than 50 craft beers – along with an extensive wine list – at its restaurants.

Sandpearl Resort, Opal Sands Resort & Lido Resort, Florida’s West Coast
The Sea Dog Brewery in Clearwater Beach, Florida, gathered a small team to create Deep Blue Brewing, a line of craft beers and IPAs specially made for OPL Hotels. The result? Delicious, Florida-inspired craft beers. Exclusively available at select properties are the OPAL Tangerine Wheat Beer and the OPAL IPA. The OPAL Tangerine Wheat Beer delivers a refreshing wheat malt flavor with a splash of tangerine, while the OPAL IPA is a medium body IPA perfectly blended with hints of citrus. These brews can be found at Sandpearl Resort, Opal Sands Resort and Lido Beach Resort.

• Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, Mexico
At the epicenter of tequila culture you’ll find Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, one of the few resorts in the world that grows its own agave azul on site and produces a proprietary brand of tequila. The resort’s in-house Tequila Sommelier leads weekly tasting classes for guests as part of the “Secretos de la Familia” program to help increase their knowledge of and appreciation for the most famous product of the resort’s home State of Jalisco: Tequila. Where to drink it? In the new Ceviche & Tequila Bar, of course, which has more than 180 tequilas and 12 kinds of draft beer, along with ocean views.

AC Hotel Columbus Dublin, Ohio
Gin where you would never expect it – Ohio! At the AC Hotel’s VASO rooftop bar, Four Peel Gin has made a gin exclusively for use at this hotel. Light and smooth-bodied, the Four Peel Gin uses Sevilla oranges and Meyer lemons to put a twist on its traditional version of the spirit. It was created for special cocktails and to go with the restaurant’s Spanish-inspired menu.
