How To Ease The Pain Of Going Through Airport Security

Going through airport security is, without question, the worst part of traveling.

Even if you’re going to a fun destination on holiday with a group of your best friends and have a first or business class seat, you’ve got to get to the gate to get on the plane. And that means gong through TSA’s security.

In the USA, the TSA is under fire for slow, long lines and after the EgyptAir disaster, it could take three hours to get through lines at some airports at some times of the day (tip: fly after 10 a.m.!).

It’s rough on passengers but the TSA agents can ease the stress and make things a little more pleasant by following these vie tips provided by PubClub.com.

TSA Tip #1: Be Nice

Treat passengers like what we are – humans. A lot of times we feel like pieces of machinery on an assembly line. Or worse.

TSA Tip #2: Don’t Yell

This adds to the frustration of the lines. When agents stand there and practically scream to “move here, go there, remove your shoes, take off your jackets” and so forth, it’s like being yelled at by drill sergeant at Marines boot camp.

TSA Tip #3: Be Courteous & Patient

Okay, let’s face it – not all passengers have their act together. They get to the front of the line and seem genuinely surprised that they have to remove their shoes, belts and so forth. There’s also families who are trying to herd kids through the process. So be patient with them and also courteous; this will go a surprisingly long way toward having them cooperate and moving forward.

TSA Tip #4: Ask, Don’t Demand

When you need to instruct people (to remove an item, step aside, wait in another area, etc.) use this approach: “Could you please move over here?” That’s a lot better and ordering or demanding action.

TSA Tip #5: Smile!

Do this and you might even get a few smiles back in return. Remember, we all humans.
