Being the capital of Arizona, it is no surprise that Phoenix is one of the state’s most visited cities. You have sun, sand, cacti, mouthwatering cuisine, outdoor adventures, unmatched culture, and lively nightlife all at your fingertips. Still not convinced to plan your trip? Check out some of the reasons why we think Phoenix is a stellar tourist attraction:
Eclectic Culture
With plenty of arts and culture to experience throughout the city, there is no doubt your senses will be stimulated no matter where you go! From Roosevelt Row to the Melrose District, the city’s culture has something new for everyone to experience whether it be downtown or in the neighborhoods. There are tons of art museums, theaters, galleries, live music and performances at any given time, allowing you to fully submerge yourself in Phoenix culture.
Incredible weather year-round
It’s always sunny in Arizona, and we aren’t exaggerating! With less than a few inches of rain received each spring, you don’t have to worry about getting rained on while spending the day in Phoenix. The great weather allows visitors to experience Phoenix with rare unexpected weather factors. Even in February you’ll be able to wear a short-sleeved shirt, but don’t skip the sunscreen, because, after all, you are in the desert. In the evenings, if you get cold easily, a light jacket will be perfect, but it’s not essential.
Fascinating History
There is so much to learn about the wonderful heritage of Phoenix, such as the Native American culture and the Sonoran desert life surrounding the area. With information dating back as early as the Paleo period, the history of Phoenix is full of color and vibrancy, unique ways of life, and western-influenced ideas. There are so many museums, gardens, and exhibits across the city for you to visit and educate yourself on this city’s exciting history, as well as some of the country’s history!
Desert Exploration
The landscape is unmatched compared to a lot of city destinations. You have a city nestled within the desert, so there really is something for everyone on any given day. There are plenty of lush greens, which might surprise you given the desert environment. Camelback Mountain is one of the most popular hikes in the area, and South Mountain Park and Preserve is one of the largest municipal parks in the country. With blooming cacti and gorgeous wildflowers to frame the desert scenery, you’ll be sure to find the perfect photo op.
One-of-a-kind Dining & Drinks
From Latin-inspired dishes to fusion cuisine, your taste buds will go wild while dining in Phoenix. Whether you’re in the mood for seafood, burgers, tacos, vegetarian dishes, pizza and pasta, or maybe just a liquid diet for the evening with a desert-inspired cocktail, we’re positive you will find a spot to indulge. Oh, and most restaurants and bars have patio seating so that you can enjoy your meal or a cocktail under the sun and the moon, depending on what you prefer.
