The 2020 Breeder’s Cup has come to an end. The championship was scheduled for the 7th day of November. Following the new normal due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most spectators watched the race through live streaming expecting their bet will win this year’s race.
However, there are some changes from what was expected and with the final result. Continue reading to understand and compare the final result of the race and the predictions beforehand. Let us first look back to the favorites this year with their respective odds.
Favorites
Every race has a favorite. This favorite is the horse that is most likely to win the race. The most favorite of this year’s Breeders Cup is Improbable with an odds of 5-1 and followed by Tiz the Law with an odds of 3-1.
The third, fourth, and fifth favorites are Maximum Security with odds of 7-2, Tom’s d’Etat with 6-1 odds, and Authentic with 6-1, respectively. Although a horse has been favored, the race outcome will still be based on the horse’s performance in the event itself.
Looking back on horse racing history, trainer Bob Baffert’s horses dominated the race. From the Triple Crown to the Breeders Cup. Since he started his horse training career in 1991, Baffert has an estimated win of more than $30 million.
Last November 7, Baffert once again sent out three horses to compete in the 2020 Breeders Cup at Keeneland racecourse with Improbable as the number one favorite racer. His two other horses, Authentic and Maximum Security, also make the top five favored horses of the race.
Prediction
Every analyst has their picks and predictions for every horse race event. But as per horse racing analyst Monique Vág, the horse that will likely win the Breeders Cup 2020 is Tacitus with an odds of 20-1. His previous performance makes him the predicted winner this year.
As the fourth-place finisher of the Kentucky Derby and as a runner-up in the Belmont Stakes, it makes him capable of winning the cup this year. Although he is only a runner-up, Vág saw potential in Tacitus.
The favored Improbable only landed at the 8th spot in Vág’s list. However, she still believed that Improbable would likely overturn the prediction and might win the race based on the horse’s performances in the past race he is on.

The Result
As the Breeders Cup 2020 commenced last November 7, between 12-5:30 pm ET, the world has witnessed the contender that dominated the race. Being only the fifth favorite, Authentic led the number one favored horse Improbable in the race.
Authentic was declared the winner of the 2020 Breeders Cup, and Improbable finished the race in second place. The horse Global Campaign ended in third place this year. Global, trained by Stanley Hough, didn’t even make the top five favorites for this race.
Baffert’s third trained horse, Maximum Security, only finishes the race in the fifth spot in front of Tiz the Law, the renowned 2020 Belmont Stakes winner. The fourth place was claimed by a Bill Mott trained horse Tacitus.
If you remember, Tacitus was predicted to win the race but only ended up in fourth place instead. On the other hand. The winner of the 2020 Belmont Stakes, Tiz the Law, only ended up in sixth place for this year’s Breeder Cup race.
The winner Authentic is the offspring of Into Mischief and was bred by Peter E. Blum Thoroughbreds, LLC. Authentic was the second placer in the Santa Anita Derby last June. Authentic also won last July in the Pacific Classic.
Authentic has a very reputable history of winning in the past horse racing events he has been. And he didn’t disappoint his fans in this year’s Breeders Cup as he took home the championship.
It has been a good year for trainers as the payout this year reached $28 million, led by the Breeder’s Cup Classic by $6 million. It was a great win by Authentic, finishing the race ahead of the most favored Improbable and Global Campaign.
It is a historical win for Authentic as he is the second horse who won both the classic and the Kentucky Derby in one year after American Pharaoh. Authentic deserves the spot this year as he is a very well trained horse with many potentials.
