22 Of League’s 30 Teams To Compete For The Playoffs
The NBA is rebounding from the COVID-19 quarantine with a resumption of the 2020 season.
The league is not simply picking up where it left off in March, when games were suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic. Rather, the revised season involves 22 of the league’s 30 teams playing regular season games, followed by the playoffs.
It will be different than any other previous playoff experience. For one thing, no fans will be allowed to attend the games. Also, the games will be held in one location, Disney World in Orlando, FL. The season resumes July 31 and involves the 16 playoff teams as well as the New Orleans Pelicans, Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs, Phoenix Suns and Washington Wizards.
While this is not a perfect scenario, the game is back on the court, as well as the sports betting that comes along with it. Sports betting all over the USA got hit during the Covid 19 pandemic, specifically in NJ where online betting is legal. The good news is that the top online sports betting sites in NJ are expecting to return to order.
Things from there get as complicated as the last few weeks of the NFL playoffs. Here’s how it works:
• There is a play-in tournament for the eight conference seeds.
• Those tournaments would only come in to play if the No. 9 seed finishes the shortened regular season within four games of No. 8.
• If that is the case, the No. 9 seed would have to beat the No. 8 seed twice in a row in order to earn the conference’s final playoff spot.
• The plan also calls for the NFL Draft Lottery and combine to take place in August.
There are other non-game elements, such as players not being allowed to shower at the arena and players not in the game being spread out on the bench.
