The Best NFL Moments of 2021
The 2021/22 season is wrapping up soon, with the Super Bowl only a couple of weekends away. However, even though we’re going to be without football for a few months soon, there are several spectacular moments we can look back on.
Great plays, rookies becoming superstars, and Super Bowl odds changing as favorites suffer shock defeats. Here are the best moments from the 2021/22 NFL season.
Mac Jones
While Mac Jones doesn’t have one particular moment to look back on, and the Patriots are out of the postseason, it is more about what he did and where he did it that’s important. Stepping into the shoes of Tom Brady is near impossible for anyone, let alone a rookie.
However, Mac proved he is more than capable of stepping up and becoming a franchise favorite. Highly adept with the ball in hand, able to spot a touchdown-winning pass, and running the offense like a general is all part of what made his season unforgettable.
Longest Field Goal
One of the most incredible game-winning field goals we have seen in ages came at the hands, or foot, of Justin Tucker of the Ravens. Tucker stepped up with the Ravens down 16-17 to the Lions with seconds left on the clock.
The ball soared for what seemed like minutes before hitting the crossbar and then breaking the plane of the goal, scoring three points and giving the Ravens the win. At 66 yards, it is now the longest field goal in NFL history.
Detroit Finally Wins
One of the more heartwarming moments of the season came in Week 13. The struggling Detroit Lions went into the game with a paltry record of 0-10-1. Up against the Vikings, it looked like they were going to leave 0-11-1.
However, sheer passion and drive saw them score two touchdowns in the second quarter and they were able to keep up with the Vikings. A fourth-quarter touchdown sealed the victory, and the joy was priceless.
That Marquise Brown Catch
Week 4 saw the Ravens take on the Broncos, and while the game itself was fairly uneventful, with the Ravens winning easily, there was one unforgettable catch. Tied at 7-7, Lamar Jackson got the ball and decided to heave it across the field.
The ball traveled in the air for over 60 yards, and on the end of it was Marquise Brown. Fully stretched, running at full speed, and watching the ball, Brown grabbed the ball while airborne for one of, if not the catch of the season.
Cooper Kupp’s Entire Season
Cooper Kupp has had one of the best seasons in recent memory. Catches per game, yards, touchdowns, there is nothing this man can’t do. He is easily one of the biggest reasons why the Rams are so deep into the postseason.
Winning the Super Bowl seems like the only and best way for Kupp to top off a near-perfect season. He is already in the books as one of the best wide receivers this generation.
Joe Burrow
Who would have guessed that the Bengals would be one game away from making the Super Bowl? Ice Cold Burrow has proven to be the quarterback and player they needed to bring out their true potential.
He has thrown for over 4500 yards and 34 touchdowns, he has kept the Bengals in games they could have easily lost, and as mentioned, he could not only lead them to a Super Bowl appearance, but even their first Super Bowl win.
Kyle Pitts Draft
Kyle Pitts is a stud and can be a pivotal piece for the Falcons to reach the heights of the Super Bowl. He doesn’t garner the same prestige as a QB or wide receiver as a tight end. However, he and the Falcons did make history.
He was selected fourth overall for the 2021 draft, the highest for any tight end in the history of the league and draft. Pitts has plenty of time to become the TE we all know he can be in the future.
International Games
Another huge plus for the season was the return of games being played in London. The New York Jets, the Atlanta Falcons, the Jags, and the Dolphins all made their way across the pond to play at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Packed stadiums were treated to the Falcons and the Jags, leaving with victories and the excitement knowing that 2022 will most likely bring four teams back to the UK.
