The new eSkootr Championship, a series of street races on modified electric scooters scheduled to launch in 2021, continues to move forward with the announcement of a media partner.
Micromobility Industries will be working with the eSkootr Championship (eSC). Micromobility Industries is led by industry analyst Horace Dediu, who is both an advocate and accelerant for new mobility technologies and solutions.
The eSkootr Championship formed in 2020, is the world’s first micromobility motorsport series. It utilizes special high-performance race eScooters and involves professional “drivers” racing through the streets of major worldwide cities on a blocked off, specially designated race course.
Think of it as a type of Formula 1 street race, although with electric scooters.
The schedule for the 2021 racing season has yet to be announced.
“As we finalise our prototype test programme and prepare for races in 2021, we’re delighted to be working together with Micromobility Industries,” said Hrag Sarkissian, CEO, eSkootr Championship. “It’s a perfectly aligned partnership: we’re both committed to the development and growth of transformative mobility solutions, and we both want to engage the hearts and minds of people across the world.
“Together, we have a number of exciting initiatives planned through the year – and we’re looking forward to revealing more very soon.”
Horace Dediu, Co-founder, Micromobility Industries, said of the partnership, “we’ve watched the development of the eSkootr Championship and we’re fascinated by its premise, its originality and its massive potential.
“We truly believe that micromobility sports will open up exciting new possibilities for the growth of the sector and we’re looking forward to collaborating together. We have some truly ground-breaking and exciting ideas and surprises in store throughout 2021.”
