The Country Is Full Of Lively Pubs, Bars, Nightclubs & Ski Apres
The country is beautiful but the cities are unexciting, the people are too stoic to be fun and there are no fun bars.
If this is your perception of nightlife in Switzerland then you really don’t know Switzerland.
That is because there is nightlife in Switzerland, and while you won’t mistake it for London or Berlin on an international scale, it is a very fun place to party.
Take Basel, for instance. On the German and French border, this mid-size town sizzles. In fact, it has one of the best Irish bars in all of Europe, packed on Friday and Saturday nights with young and fun people from there and the surrounding countries. It’s a three-level bar with a cranking dance floor in the basement.
Switzerland also has Zurich, which has two main party areas. Old Town, preferred by PubClub.com, has the smaller pubs and bars, including a German-style oompha-bar where it’s like Oktoberfest every weekend and the famous Splendid Bar with its rotating rock ‘n roll cover piano players.
Niederdorf is the more modern part of Zurich and has all its nightclubs.
Then there are the river-front bars where you drink under the stars in the summertime. Then, if you so desire, jump in the River Limmat.
The lively city is also home to one of Europe’s biggest summertime parties, the Zurich Street Parade each August, which PubClub describes as the Mardi Gras of Switzerland.

You have to look a bit – sometimes even under the streets – in the capitol city of Bern, but if you know where to go it, too, has a fun nightlife scene.
Switzerland is such a fun nightlife destination that some people don’t even bother going into a bar to party. Since you can drink in the streets, many locals just gather in the center of town or along a river to socialize.
Finally, there are the ski resorts in the Swiss Alps. Austria it’s not, but the Swiss like to spend half their skiing time in the “huts” as they call them, drinking schnapps between runs. This gets them amply warmed up to go out to ski apres and then out on the town that night.
No, Switzerland is not a boring country. In fact, it is quite the opposite. If you go there, you will discover that the nightlife in Switzerland is far better than you probably think right now.
