The 8th Annual East Village Oktoberfest is taking place at Quartyard, Saturday, October 5th from Noon-6 p.m.
Held in partnership with the East Village Association, it features the traditional German festivities with a San Diego twist – it also has a Mexican flair. The locaton is within Quartyard and on Market Street between 13th & 14th streets,
“It’s that time of the year again,” exclaimed Dominic Li Mandri, District Manager of the East Village Association. “Dust off those lederhosen and dirndl because the 8th Annual East Village Oktoberfest is right around the corner.
“There’s nothing that brings people together more than a fun time and some great brews and we are thrilled to partner with Quartyard again this year to celebrate the German tradition with a fun twist in the heart of Downtown. We can’t wait to see you all there!”
East Village Oktoberfest has craft beer, classic Oktoberfest and Mexican cuisine, live polka and banda music, tribute bands, a showcase of vintage cars and interactive games.
It also celebrates the rich history of German influence on Mexican lager, music, and cuisine. During the brief reign of Austrian-born Mexican Emperor Maximiliano I in the 1800s, many German and Austrian immigrants moved to Mexico and established breweries. The lager beer, along with other elements of their cultural traditions and music, quickly gained popularity and became integral to Mexican culture.
East Village Oktoberfest also adds another local element: a diverse selection of San Diego crafted lagers, ales, and local brews..
Tickets cost between $10-$25 and VIP tickets are $60 (plus the usual a service fee, of course). Tickets can be purchased here.
This is a 21-and-over event.
