Two Forks Up Says Orange County’s Man About Town On Restaurant’s Hip New Scene

Perhaps he was too busy sampling the craft beers that rotate on a regular basis, or enjoying one of the menu items such as waffles and duck, to offer much more than a few quick texts.
And they were all positive.
Mr. OC, Orange County, CA’s man about town who seems to know what places are opening and closing and are happening or dying even before do the owners, was at the first tasting of the new hip and jazzy Sunday brunch at the Side Door restaurant in Corona del Mar.
The Side Door is a little offshoot of the outstanding Five Crowns, and on April 7 it launched a new event that combines food with rare beers and live music. Apparently, it’s a concept that’s going to work, according to Mr. OC’s initial impressions.

I received a series of texts offering these brief, but enthusiastic, comments:
“Side Door. Cool little bistro!!! Corona del Mar crowd. Light 3-piece jazz combo in the corner…casual…Sunday vibe.”
“A fine selection of unusual pours.”‘
“Thirsty!”
“All good.”
Later, he followed up with a phone call: “The place is like an English pub. Dark paneling, booths. It’s very cozy. All but one table was taken, so it was pretty crowded. There’s a patio in the back, too. It’s a quality place and it was full of Corona del Mar locals.”
And that, folks, is as ringing an endorsement as any place in the OC can receive.
Soon, I’ll get there and check it out myself.
Cheers!
