Landmark Florida Keys Waterfront Bar In Marathon Will Feature Live TropRock Music

Imagine having an open bar tab at a tiki bar right on the water in the Florida Keys, a place where the house band plays Trop/Rock music, where you can have a rum drink and then jump in a kayak for a quick paddle and return for another rum drink.
It’s the Dockside Tropical Cafe in Marathon, FL (that’s much closer to Miami than it is to Key West), and the new owners are accepting on-line donations, some of which include a bar tab.
“Historically this is a favorite hot spot of locals and cruisers,” said new co-owner Eric Stone, a Jimmy Buffett-style singer/songwriter who will be the house band at Dockside. “It’s a place where the Chamber of Commerce met for Happy Hour next to the ‘pirates’ from the harbor.
“Dockside is a landmark. We want to bring it back to life.”

All that Stone – a good friend of the Bar Blogger and PubClub.com, by the way – asks to help make it happen is a little donation to help get it go from island dream to dreamy island reality. He’s set up a website where anyone can contribute; reach up to the $250 level and you get a $200 bar tab! That, folks is darned good deal, especially when you throw in 5% off your tab for life.
Contribute $1,000 and the bar tab rises to a whopping $800, with a lifetime 15% discount for four.
You can pledge as little as $15 and as much as, well, you want I suppose but the website set up to collect the money is capped at $10,000.
“It is our mission to offer the community of Marathon, Florida, the heart of the Florida Keys – it’s locals, tourists and community of cruisers – a music venue that offers quality entertainment seven nights a week,” Stone said. He expects to open the Dockside’s doors – and be playing on its stage – this October with Grand Opening in December.
So break out your credit card and contribute to this great new adventure. After all, Stone and his wife Kim are giving us what the world needs the most: Another tiki bar!

UPDATE: After just a week, Dockside raised more than $25,000!
We are so excited to get Dockside reopened. It’s people like Kevin at Pubclub.com that help real people fulfill their dreams.
Rock on Kevin!
