Top Party Island In Greece: From The Far Out Cafe, To The Blue Note & The Scorpion Nightclub

The Greek Islands are one one of the top party places in the world and the top party place in the Greek Islands is the tiny spot of land known as Ios.
It’s such a party island that it offers few other diversions than drinking. There are no ruins here, no museums, or shopping. Nothing to distract you from the primary purpose on being on this island, and that’s partying daytime and nighttime with other like-minded people from around the world.
And then trying to sleep with them at night.
In fact, there are just three thing to do on Ios and they are (in this order):
• Drink:
• Have Sex
• Recover
You then repeat it for as long as you’re on the island. Many people only stop here for a couple of days between Mykonos and Santorini. But others stay a week.
The routine is simple. You get off the ferry and head straight to the blue van. That’s for Francesca’s, a kind of hotel/hostel where the guy on duty when you get there on a hot, still afternoon pulls down a liquor bottle and does shots with you before giving you your room key.
Then you dump your bags in your room, put on your bathing suit and head down the hill to the Far Out Cafe. There, you will find a raging party. You won’t likely pick up anybody there, tho; this is where you plant your seeds for the night.
Then you take the bus up the hill back to town andFrancesca’s (you could walk of course but forget that after an afternoon at the Far Out!), take a power nap, get changed, go into town to grab some food, then get a beer and sit out in the town square where – hopefully – the date you made at the Far Out actually shows up to see you.
If not, no problem, you’l see them sooner or later in one of the many small bars. Francesca’s owns the Blue Note and if you stay at his place you drink for even cheaper at the Blue Note.
Eventually, sufficiently liquored up by now to where your brain cells have forgot about rejuvenating themselves as you head to the edge of town to the Scorpion Club, the island’s only dance club. Just be careful that when you emerge, you watch your step. Scorpion Club is on the edge of a cliff – straight down – and your shaky legs are not exactly steering you int he right direction.
If all goes well you’re not alone but no matter – there’s another chance tomorrow. And every couple of days a new crew of parties arrives on the ferry so it’s always a changing scene.
Ios, by the way, is pronounced “e-oh-s.” Not that it matters, of course.
