How To Get To And From This Annual Fall Celebration Without Driving
There are two free shuttle services that will take people back to their lodge, hotel or other accommodations, as well as the Mountain Transit Trolley. All of which is a good idea, especially for those who have had a few beers in the “Das Boot” glass.
A complimentary O’Doul’s shuttle runs every Saturday from 6 p.m.- midnight. It’s a free ride to any accommodation or home in Big Bear Valley.
There is no schedule to follow and rides are always at the ready. People are advised to leave their vehicle in the parking lot and pick it up the next day.
Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest also offers complimentary shuttle service to the event for those who do not wish to leave their vehicle at the Oktoberfest parking lot in the Big Bear Convention Center.
This free shuttle service departs from the Bartlett Parking Lot (630 Bartlett Road in Big Bear Lake Village) every 30 minutes from 2-6 p.m. Return rides go from Otoberfest to the Village from 6 p.m.-closing.
“Leave the driving to us. We’ll take you door-to-door anywhere you are staying in the Big Bear Valley for free,” said Monica Marini, director of Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest. “Our free shuttles continue to operate until the last Oktoberfest fan is out of the building!”
Mountain Transit has also stepped up to the plate to help Oktoberfest patrons get home safely. This year, Mountain Transit has added Big Bear Lake Convention Center as a regular stop to its Weekend Trolley schedule.
The Weekend Trolley picks passengers up at six locations that include The Lodge at Big Bear Lake, The Copper Q, Snow Summit, Best Western Big Bear Chateau, Big Bear Alpine Zoo, and the Vons/Interlaken Shopping Center. The Weekend Trolley picks up passengers from Oktoberfest beginning at 3:04 p.m. and returns approximately every hour. The last pick up is at 9:53 p.m.
The Weekend Trolley drops off passengers at its regular locations. The fare is $5 for unlimited boarding all weekend. Passes are available from the conductor or at Bear Skins, The Copper Q, The Shirt Shanty or The Lodge at Big Bear Lake.
Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest also features a designated driver program that rewards designated drivers within groups. Designated Drivers are encouraged to visit the main entrance gate or ticket booths to pick up a complimentary wristband that entitles designated drivers unlimited free coffee, tea, water and soda.
