This is the first time in the event’s 51-year history that people in this mountain resort outside of Los Angeles can hoist big beers, do the chicken dance and yell “Ein Prost!”
“It was our guests who wanted to kick-off the weekend early and extend their Oktoberfest celebration,” said Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest Director Monica Marini. “When the work week ends, let your hair down! Friday nights in October are meant for chicken dancing.”
Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest’s Friday nights are an intimate indoors event with all the same great Oktoberfest spirit involving real German beer, authentic German cuisine, log-sawing contests, and bands playing polkas, classic rock, and of course the chicken dance.
This year’s event has limited capacity, and with most Saturdays anticipated to sell out, this is one big reason why adding Friday nights became a natural fit.
