Reviewing This Luxury Family-Run Private Venue
In an area this beautiful and romantic, there are dozens of locations to host a wedding (or a private function or corporate event) that people will be talking about for years, almost as much as the event itself.
One of those places is Holman Ranch in Carmel Valley.
Situated on sunny, rolling hills overlooking the valley, this family-run private estate has everything you need: A gorgeous can’t-forget-this setting for the ceremony, a dance hall (in a barn, no less), an area for the sit-down dinner and interesting rooms and areas for guests to roam around before and after the event.
Heck, there’s even vineyards, for the Holman Ranch estate is also a winery. Yes, you can get married among the vineyards of Carmel!
Holman Ranch Facility
The grounds, which are in a ranch-meets-upscale-Mexico style, are immaculate; a lawn where the ceremony takes place looks like a putting green at Pebble Beach Golf Club. It leads to a kind of podium of sorts, kind of making the bride and groom look like winners of a big race at Laguna Seca Racetrack just over the hill.
There are two buildings, one a relaxing room with leather couches (and a piano) and a rec room with a pool table.
All these areas are located just a few yards for one another; you can walk from one end of the facility to the next in about two minutes. And that’s with a glass of Holman Ranch wine in your hand.
For corporate outings, there’s a room for board meetings with complete A/V.
And there’s free wireless Internet throughout the property.
One thing about Holman Ranch that you may not be guaranteed elsewhere is serenity. It’s so isolated and private that all the noise created there is made by your group.
There are no distractions, no lost tourists accidentily barging into the ceremony, no screaming kids going through hotel lobbies.
At times, it’s so quiet about the only sound you can hear is the blowing breeze.
Holman Ranch Accommodations
As far as on-site accommodations, these are limited to a few rustic yet luxurious cabins.
Big wedding parties will need to stay in town, although the bride and groom can have a night to remember here. And there’s rooms for mom and dad, plus the grandparents and a few very close and lucky friends.
The one- and two-bedroom bungalows have huge, comfortable beds, large bathrooms and a porch with rocking chairs. It’s like being at a summer camp in the woods as a kid, except here the rooms are really nice. Plus, you can be drinking great Holman Ranch wine!
It’s the perfect way to end a great day.
There is no restaurant on the property, either, although catering is a part of the wedding package. Plus, the Holman Ranch’s Louder family owns Will’s Fargo Steakhouse just down the hill in Carmel Village.
Holman Ranch is in such in demand for weddings that, as of this writing in the springtime of 2015, it’s booked for ceremonies until fall of 2016. So don’t hesitate!
