L.A. Coliseum’s Rose Garden Site For Spectacular All-White Pop-Up Dinner Party
Once again they came from all over the city, dressed in all white pulling carts containing food, a table, chairs, place settings and lighted decorations.
And once again, Diner en Blanc Los Angeles provided them with a spectacular setting and event.
The 2018 version of this popular pop-up dinner party held at a mystery location provided new and interesting elements that managed to elevate the event even beyond its spectacular past successes.
For starters, organizers arranged for everyone to arrive at the location not by chartered buses, but by LA Metro. This provided additional intrigue as to the venue – which is not revealed until two hours prior to the dinner.
Platforms filled with riders by the hundreds, with everyone dressed in white from tall hats to shoes. This created much speculation as to the destination – it had to be somewhere along the Expo Line.
That location turned out to be the Rose Garden by the L.A. Coliseum. And it was great. As opposed to previous locations attended by PubClub.com – Pasadena City Hall and a DTLA courtyard – this one had almost a spoked-wheel layout, with a huge water fountain serving as the centerpiece and tables put down on the grass in all directions.
Diners – who went through a complicated process to even be invited to attend – were greeted by an elegant scene. Entertainers (in all white, of course) walked around on stilts. A crooner, Maximo Marcuso, backed by a band played on a stage.
Big balls of light provided the ambiance of a five-star restaurant – but under the stars. The Rose bushes served as a decorative framework.
Participants had to bring their own everything, led by group leaders who organized groups of about 50 people, who then converged on the location.
Diner en Blanc, which originated in Paris and has dozens of events at major cities all over the world – is the ultimate outdoor dinner party and the Los Angeles event once again proved to be an elegant and fun affair.
This year’s event was a huge success. It was attended by 2,700 people, with another 15,000 on a waiting list. Yes, 15 thousand people were on the waiting list.
When dinner was done, a DJ replaced the band and the diners turned the area by the fountain into a dance floor in a scene that resembled the Greek party island of Mykonos in July.
Diner en Blanc Los Angeles 2018 was an event to remember until, well, it’s time to plan for the next one.
