To get in the swing of things at the Genesis Invitational (formerly Northern Trust Open and for you long-timers, ever before that the Nissan Open) in Los Angeles, it’s important to know the lay of the land, the feel of the fairways, the guide to the greens.
And the location of the beer tents! PubClub.com provides all that vital information for fans in this LA Open Fan, Party & Social Guide.
Golf tournaments are, without a doubt, superb places to meet single people. They are outdoors, involve a sporting event (and a sophisticated one at that) and, of course, fans can can drink beer on the course.
(But not cocktails! It is is now PGA policy to allow only beer and wine. Those who get a cocktails in a tent have to finish it in the tent.)
Bars & Lounges At The Genesis Invitational
The 2022 Genesis Invitational – Feb. 17-20 at Riviera Country Club in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles – certainly attracts its share of social seekers, providing as big of an early-year party test for Angelinos as the 10th hole does for the golfers.
There are several bars, some with viewing areas, open to the public on the course. Here is a guide to the barfs and lounges at the Genesis Invitational.
Genesis Lounge
The Phoenix Open it’s not. There’s no Bird’s Nest, no wild 16th hole. But with the Genesis Lounge in a place once called The Grove this is a good test of one’s social skills. Located just off the 14th tee and just a short walk from the 18th fairway and the clubhouse, the Genesis Lounge is the course’s equivalent of a golfer’s big driver, the dominant club in the bag, so to speak, when the players are on the course.
Brothers Distillery Bunker
You can hunker down in the Brothers Distillery Bunker with views of the No. 2 green and partial views of the No. 9 green and No. 10 tee box. As the name implies there are cocktails featuring Garrison Brothers Bourbon, as well as snacks.
Tito’s Stillhouse Lounge
This is another public viewing area with a video board, seating and sponsor activities from Tito’s, as well as Tito’s cocktails, as well as beer. As girls like vodka drinks, this is one of the more happening lounges at the Genesis Invitational. It is located by the No. 10 green.
Maestro Dobel Tequila Terrace
If tequila is more your thing, the Maestro Dobel Tequila Terrace is located behind the 13th green.
Promenade
Located along the No, 8 fairway and behind the 14th green is the Promenade, a with seating, entertainment, food trucks and drinks. Here you will find the following:
• Michelob ULTRA Organic Seltzer Lounge
• Michelob ULTRA bar
• Tito’s at the Turn
• Garrison Brothers Distillery
• TravisMathew experience
• Food trucks
• Video board
• Sponsor activations
The 19th Hole
This is a deck with views of the 3rd and 10th tees and the No. 18 green. The bar has cocktails, beer and wine.
There is also a beer stop just inside the clubhouse door onto the golf course. This is a good place to grab a drink to start our day or for a “last call” drink There are also beer booths just outside the 19th Hole, as well as at several other places throughout the grounds.
This article would list them if they were difficult to find, but they are as frequent as birdies. And bogies at Riviera’s most infamous hole, the 10th.
And here’s another cool part about going to a golf tournament: Spectators can walk right up to a tee box, fairway or green and be standing just a few feet from the players. In some other sports in L.A., one has to be an A-list celebrity in order to be that close to the action.
