Midwestern Transplants Gather In L.A. For Annual Party

There’s no Little Brown Jug, Paul Bunyan’s Axe, Old Brass Spittoon, brass bull or brass pig.
And nobody to dot the “i” in Ohio.
What there is, however, are more than a hundred transplanted Midwesterners now living in Los Angeles who converge on Hermosa Beach for the annual Big 10 Pub Crawl.
Held on the Saturday of the Big 10 Championship game – Dec. 7 – it’s a collection of Spartans, Wolverines, Buckeyes, Nittany Lions, Hawkeyes, Huskers, Golden Gophers, Hoosiers, Illini, Wildcats Badgers Boilermakers (hey, that’s a drink, too!) and this year even Terrapins and Scarlet Knights.
Others are invited to join them; just be kind if you are not a Big 10 fan. Hey, you’re a pub crawl fan, right!?
The meeting time and spot is Noon at Hennessey’s with the actual crawling starting at 1. You’ll need to check in first in order to get a badge and drink specials.
The group – more than 500 strong – then goes in and out of the other bars in the pier: Waterman’s, Silvio’s (a Penn State bar), Patrick Molloy’s, Sharkeez and American Junkie (an Ohio State bar) before winding up at the Underground Pub for championship game between Ohio State and Wisconsin
Kickoff for that tilt is 5:17 p.m.
There is a $10 donation that goes to a very worthy charity, the American Family Children’s Hospital.
