Mermaid, Tower 12, Patrick Molloy’s & American Junkie Happy Hour Bar Hopping

Hermosa Beach is a very happy place to be, especially on Fridays and especially for Happy Hour.
Or make that Happy Hours, for by doing this Happy Hour-hopping routine, you can get food and drink specials from late afternoon to well into the evening. This is PubClub.com’s suggested routine:
• 3-5 p.m. – Mermaid
Here, you can get the best-made cocktail in town, the Drink of the Week, to start your Friday Happy Hour. They are just $5 and don’t bother to ask what it is that week; just get it and you’ll be very happy. This bar is right on The Strand and if you decide to stay, Happy Hour goes on until 7 p.m. There are also house wines for $4.50 and select beers for $5.
• 5-7 ish p.m. – Tower 12
From purely a social standpoint, this is not just the best Happy Hour in Hermosa but in all of the South Bay. You’ll have to find a spot to stand, and you’ll be greeted by a good-looking crowd, 32-ounce beers for $6-8, double-sized drinks and incredible food for as little as 5 bucks. You can read our review of Tower 12’s Happy Hour here and chances are you’ll stay way past the end of Happy Hour, which is at 6. That’s why we put 7-ish above in the recommended time to be in this bar.
• 7-ish-8 p.m. – Patrick Molloy’s
PM’s has Happy Hour until 8 and that’s pints of beer for $3-4 and cocktails are half price. Fireball shots are also $3 until 10 p.m.
• 8-9 p.m. – American Junkie
The biggest bar on the pier has Happy Hour extended until 9 on Fridays. Who-hoo!!! Here, you can get any beer it serves or pours for $3 and mixed drinks are also just $3.
There’s more Happy Hours at the pier, too: Sharkeez 2-for-1 all beers and drinks, 3-7; Waterman’s Safe House, $3 draft beers (and Waterman’s has very good draft beers), 3-7; The Deck, which like Mermaid is on The Strand, has $2 off beer and wine, 3-7; Hennessey’s has a long list of food and drinks for $5 including all well drinks and 23-ounce beers, 3-7; the Lighthouse Cafe, yes the one that was in La La Land, has $5 drinks, imported beers, house wines and food and live music, 3-9 p.m.
