The Best Brunch Deal In The South Bay Brings Out These Regular Customers

They gather there each and every weekend, as regular as the waves that roll onto the shore a few hundred yards away from them.
The group can be as few as 10 and, like the waves on a windy day, can swell much higher, to as many as 30 people, taking up most of the tables on the small patio at the middle of Pier Plaza just steps from the Hermosa Beach Pier.
They are the Rise & Shine Weekend Breakfast Club Bunch, a group off South Bay locals who meet every single Saturday and Sunday at Baja Sharkeez in Hermosa Beach, CA. They get the best food-and-drink deal in the South Bay, the Rise & Shine breakfast with bottomless mimosas for just $5.99. (This special ends at 11:30, tho there are other breakfast options available after that time.)

I joined them one lazy Sunday late morning and immediately began to understand the attraction of it. First of all, there is the comradery of being around a very fun and social group of people.
Secondly, is the price. I mean breakfast and mimosas for 6 bucks? Are you kidding me!? To be fair, the mimosas only last for an hour but after that, you order a drink here, a drink there and well, pretty soon you’re into the middle or even late afternoon. The Black Hole lives again!
Third is the crowd. There are others who come to Sharkeez so you easily make more drinking partners for the day. There are also the friends of the Rise & Shine Weekend Breakfast Club Bunch, who are harmlessly walking along the plaza and get pulled in to join the growing party.
And finally, there are the folks walking around Pier Plaza. It’s a great people-watching scene for when there are breaks in the conversation.
It is impossible to ignore the Sharkeez staff’s contribution here. To the Rise & Shine Weekend Breakfast Club Bunch, they are a big part of this “family” as those sitting down at the tables.
I suppose one has to be invited to join the Rise & Shine Weekend Breakfast Club Bunch. Or at least know someone in it, like me. Tho of course anyone who goes to Sharkeez on a weekend will certainly run into them and, if a table is available, just grab a few drinks and join the party.
I do know one thing: I’ll be back, and perhaps so often that I’ll become an official member of this club.
Cheers!
I regularity sit at the table #4 at entrance. I know those people in the picture.
