With a scheduled opening sometime this spring, the Red Rocker’s no-doubt-to-be-rocking bar will be at The Waterfront Beach Resort on PCH a few blocks south of the Huntington Beach Pier. Cabo comes to Surf City. Can’t surf 55.
Now anyone from Southern California knows that Hagar has his Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas, and there’s also one on the Las Vegas Strip. This one will double as a restaurant and bar with a menu of coastal Mexican cuisine.
“I’m thrilled to announce that The Waterfront Beach Resort, which is one of my favorite hotels, is introducing the first Cabo Wabo Beach Club,” Hagar said. “Inspired by the laidback Baja party vibe of my original Cabo Wabo Cantina, there won’t be a better spot to enjoy cocktails and fantastic cuisine overlooking the beach.”
There will be indoor and outdoor dining ad lounge seating. The outdoor bar will resemble a Mexican palapa with a roof of dried palm leaves, elevated with furniture and finishes in a refined coastal color palette of crisp whites, sea-blue tones and sandy hues. The space will have rock-and-roll features peppered throughout, including an outdoor flaming guitar fire pit.
There is also a private dining room for meetings and private gatherings. It is the former location of the Boardwalk Restaurant, Dock Bar, and Riptide Bar.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Sammy Hagar’s Cabo Wabo Beach Club to The Waterfront Beach Resort – this is an exciting partnership that combines Sammy Hagar’s energy and creativity with the modern sophistication of our resort,” said Paulette Fischer, General Manager of The Waterfront Beach Resort. “Our oceanfront setting is the ideal home for this concept, and we are confident that it will be extremely popular with locals and visitors alike.”
Since opening the doors to his original Cabo Wabo Cantina in 1990, Hagar, who has been named the Honorary Ambassador of Los Cabos, Mexico, has turned a lifelong passion for great food, music and spirits into a thriving and iconic lifestyle brand.

Can. Anyone swim in the pool if you don’t stay at the hotel
Don’t know – perhaps if you buy a few drinks yes, which is a common policy among places.
