Craft brewery Boomtown Brewery has several days of music. As Boomtown likes to say “because people can’t live on beer alone.” All of Boomtown’s events are free. There are no food or drink specials on these nights, tho karaoke singers do get a $2 discount.
Boomtown’s weekly event calendar started filling with Vegan Playground, which grew from a summer popup in last July to an every-Wednesday celebration of food, accessories, games, crafts and all things plant-based that’s since spread to Hollywood and Long Beach.
Boomtown Brewery Weekly Music Lineup Rundown

Boomtown starts the week with Open Mic Comedy Mondays and Pub Trivia Tuesdays. Following the success of its first Boomfest, once-a-month Saturday music festival, it is now inaugurating Thursday Sessions, promising three new local bands every week.
August 11 features @wearemadus @mrmaxmusic and @ughhband; August 18, they welcome @imaginarytricks, @Raisedontv and @meggmusic. Boomfest 2, taking place August 27, has another nine bands confirmed, all free: @sweetgloom666; @raisedontvband; @radicalradicalmusic; @thewartoys; @imaginarytricks; @triangle.fire; @recordyear and @sorryghostband. Friday night? Themed Karaoke with host @kjdiggitydogg and his basset hound Arizona (remember, “rabbits can relax when a basset pack is after them”), they reward singers with $2 off beers.
Boomtown’s next monthly music joint is Sunday Shindig, which will feature jazz and swing band for hot jazz on cooler summer Sundays. The first Shindig takes place Sunday August 14 with the Holy Crow Jazz Band. Holy Crow performs old-time jazz and blues from the 1900s throughout the 1930s. The band’s repertoire includes many popular and obscure songs recorded by such artists as King Oliver, Bessie Smith, Bix Beiderbecke, Jabbo Smith, Louis Armstrong, Cliff Edwards, as well as original compositions.
“While our original mission was to bring artisan beer to DTLA artists,” said Boomtown principal John Rankin, “we’ve expanded to serve our growing community—of beer lovers, artists, musicians and other creatives from the Arts District and afar. We’re lucky to have both a brewery, taproom and entertainment complex, where we look forward to providing a regular roster of entertainment while retaining our capacity to surprise people.”
