Fiesta Hermosa, Topanga Days & Lake Arrowhead Have Bands & Beers
Here’s three of the top ones. Well, two, with one that makes for a good weekend getaway in the mountains.
FIESTA HERMOSA, HERMOSA BEACH
Times: 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Hermosa Beach Pier Plaza
This three-day festival has the benefit of location, location, location. It’s in Hermosa Beach!
After watching locals play beach volleyball or go surfing, then head to the Pier Plaza and Hermosa Ave., for rows and rows and rows of tents selling all kinds of fair-type merchandize (you know, sports bottles that keep cold beverages cold and hot ones hot, along with jewelry and things to clutter up the house).
At the end of Pier Plaza, backed up against The Strand, is a stage with a series of rock tribute bands and people sitting at the restaurants and bars having beers listening to the bands. Just behind those bars is an area with more tribute bands and beers where you can move around, a beer garden.
There’s also fair food and a few things to do for the kiddies that keep parents from bringing those kids (thankfully) into the beer garden.
Address: Hermosa Beach Pier Plaza, 1 Pier Ave., Hermosa Beach, CA.
Event Review: Fiesta Hermosa Bands
Parking: Ride a bike if you can (Hermosa Cyclery offers free “valet” parking on the beach). There’s parking with free shuttle service about two miles away until 7:3-0 p.m. That address is 701 Aviation Blvd., El Segundo, CA.
TOPANGA DAYS, TOPANGA CANYON
Times: 10 a.m.- 7 p.m., Topanga Canyon Blvd.
Cost: Tickets: $25
This is your “hang out, hang loose” event. Topanga Canyon is L.A’s hippies hangout and that alone makes it a cool destination.
On Memorial Day Weekend, there’s a music, been & food festival – mostly music – on and around a baseball diamond.
There are five to six bands on two stages playing all day from 12:30-6 p.m. On Saturday the final act is David Bowe tribute band Kummerspeck Das Bowie.
This is a laid-back festival with beer and food booths and lots of Topanga Canyon-ish merchandise. While people do get up and dance by the main stage, it’s primarily an event to spread out a blanket for the day and enjoy the sunshine and live bands.
Parking: All along Topanga Blvd., clear of the white lines. Shuttle vans come by and pick you up for a free ride to the venue.
NEWPORT DUNE BEERFEST 2017
