Coachella, Stagecoach, Santa Anita Craft Beer Festival & Long Beach Grand Prix
Here’s a rundown of the top events happening throughout the Southland this month.
• Santa Anita Derby Day 2017
April 8
The diversity of Los Angeles is on display at this horse racing track the same day cars are on the streets an hour to the south in Long Beach. Here, one of the biggest races of the year is combined with a beer festival (35 craft beers) plus drinking games such as beer pong, corn hole and Beer Pong-a-plazooa. General Admission is just $5.

• Long Beach Grand Prix 2017
April 7-9
Billed as “the world’s fastest beach party,” this involves high-speed race cars – led by the IndyCar series (the same cars and drivers n the Indy 500) – blasting down Shoreline Drive in Long Beach. This spawns a party with free cover band concerts on Friday and Saturday and a good weekend party scene. Many people don’t see a wheel turn.

• Time Out Magazine Party
Wednesday April 12, 8-10:30 P.M.
Really cool and festive event that highlights the upcoming summer music festival season, plus more of L.A.’s best, including top markets, local LGBT heroes, an out-of-the-box theater company and one of the city’s hottest up-and-coming ‘hoods. The event features three bands curated by Sofar Sounds and your ticket includes two Peroni beers. The event also provides for a sneak peek of the latest edition of the magazine. Tickets are $15; $10 for you early birds. Held at the Hi Hat bar in L.A.

April 14-16 & April 21-23
The music & spiritual festival (in other words, a party in the desert!) features Lady Gaga and half of the Southland’s youthful music and event seekers.

• El Segundo Keg Hunt 2017
April 15
The normally conservative downtown of El Segundo (just south of LAX) turns into a team-themed pub crawl as teams in costume search for hidden kegs of beer decorated as easter eggs. Enter as a team or just follow the party path through the old-school town’s old-school bars.

• Stagecoach Festival 2017
April 28-30
The country music version of Stagecoach (and generally with a slightly older crowd, mainly people in their 30s & 40s and not 20s and early 30s) this year features Shania Twain, Kenny Chesney and Willie Nelson And Family in the lineup.

Coachella was over and beyond anything at all that I could have ever probably expected
it to be. It shattered my earlier standards for music festivals (which have been jointly held by EDC 2011 and
Outdoors Lands of that identical 12 months).
