Nightlife Blogger Likes Living In The Moment

Have you ever woken up in the morning and felt like immediately going back to sleep?
That’s the way I felt on this Wednesday.
Blame it on Taco Tuesday at OB’s in Manhattan Beach.
Why is it that when I go there, I can’t seem to leave until the place is practically empty? I crack open about two handfuls of the free peanuts and deposit the shells on the floor. I talk to regulars but always seem to meet new and cool people.
I drink 12-ounce plastic cups of Stella Artois beers (just $3 during Taco Tuesday!) as if they are on an assembly line.
Once the rush of people have cleared out – and the place is jumping each and every Tuesday from 6-10 – the owner and bartender Steve passes out tequila shots to his best customers. This mission completed, a couple friends and I either pop into Sharkeez next door or catch the last hour-plus of “Reverse Happy Hour” down the street at FishBar.
There, I switch to margaritas, only in part because the Stellas are not on Happy Hour prices. The margaritas – fresh made by a lovely and lively bartender – are 3 bucks.
On this particular Tuesday the margaritas were particularly strong, adding significantly to my buzz. I stumbled home at midnight (I can walk to the bars, thankfully) and immediately put my head on the pillow.

Seven hours later my phone rang, then it buzzed with a series of text messages. Grudgingly, I opened one eye to check the messages and eventually rolled out of bed and began my day. I had to shake off the cobwebs and after a couple of glasses iced tea and a banana, began to feel human again.
For a brief time, I began to question my decisions from the previous night – perhaps I should have had a couple fewer beers, not gone for the Reverse Happy Hour margaritas – but I like to live in the moment.
And yes I’ll do it again because it’s Taco Tuesday and it’s fun!
Cheers!
