Torrance & Marina Del Rey Having Shows On 4th Of July

With the Fourth of July taking place on a Wednesday in 2018, Redondo Beach is having its annual fireworks show on Sunday, July 1.
They will be launched just off the pier starting at 9 p.m.
There is a family-oriented event (family-oriented as in tickets are required and no alcohol is sold or allowed) in Seaside Lagoon throughout the day but for most of the South Bay, the fireworks will mark the end of another #SundayFunday, to use the popular social media hashtag.
Shade Hotel is hosting a free viewing part on its rooftop, and it will be serving drinks to enhance the experience.
This means there will be no 4th fireworks in the South Bay. There were to be fireworks at Torrance Beach, restoring a decades-old tradition, but a less than two weeks before the 4th they were canceled.
Reasons vary but one story provided to PubClub from a local businessman involved the city having to fork over $75,000 for police security. This is after a $50,000 donation from Mike Russell, owner of Pedone’s Pizza in Riviera Village seemed to have revived the show.
If you want to see fireworks on the 4th, look to the north and you may be able to make out the fireworks show in Marina del Rey.
Otherwise, just enjoy the show on the 1st.
The Seaside Lagoon show is $25 per ticket and “celebrates” the First of July. Right? It’s just a money making event sponging off the celebration of our national holiday on the Fourth of July. Am I right?
Way to go Redondo.
