Skyslide Provides Los Angeles With A Brief Thrill Ride

In Toronto, you can walk on the outside of the massively-tall CN Tower in a wild adventure called EdgeWalk.
In Sydney, you can walk over the top of Harbor Bridge.
The OUE Skyspace LA’s Skyslide isn’t exactly that hair-raising, but it’s a similar concept that provides a hip and creative attraction for thrill seekers. And those who enjoy watching those thrill seekers.
Located downtown at the U.S. Bank building (W. 5th Street between Figueroa and S. Grand Ave), it’s a see-through slide 1,000 feet above the street. Skyslide is a first-of-its-kind outdoor glass slide affixed to the exterior of U.S. Bank Tower, extending 45 feet long from floor 70 to floor 69.
It’s a short slide, tho, lasting less than a minute, making it far less of an experience than EdgeWalk and the Harbor Bridge walk. But it’s still something that’s a different kind of attraction for Los Angeles, which is largely centered around amusement parks and chasing locations of long-ago celebrity homes.
Skyslide is just one element to Skyspace, which is an open-air observation deck.
The OUE Skyspace LA experience includes a variety of interactive visitor touch points on floors 2, 54, 69 and 70. It provides panoramas from the two-story observation deck on the upper floors.
It cost $19 to get into Skypace and $33 for a Skyslide combo ticket.
“The opening of OUE Skyspace LA will breathe new life into LA’s tallest landmark, said Lucy Rumantir, President & Chief Executive Officer, The Americas, OUE . Its unique offerings will provide local residents as well as tourists an opportunity to experience the city from an exciting new perspective.”
“OUE Skyspace is poised to become a prominent tourist attraction and firmly positions U.S. Bank Tower as the undisputed icon on the Los Angeles skyline,” said Dr Stephen Riady, OUE’s Executive Chairman.
Skyspace kicked off with a free block party featuring a beer garden and a show by Snoop Dogg on Saturday, June 25.
