What’s Happening In Hermosa, Manhattan & Redondo Beach: Free Wine, A House Party & Dueling Sunday Concerts
By Kevin Wilkerson, PubClub.com Blogger & South Bay Local
Welcome to the PubClub.com South Bay Party Report!
The Party Report is brought to you by Kona Brewing Company, and doesn’t a cold one sound good right about now? Oh, you’re right – several cold ones sounds better!
WEDNESDAY – JOE’S BAND, FREE WINE & FOOD
Bay Company in Redondo Beach’s King Harbor is having wine, food and great entertainment from Joe Middler’s jazzy quartet on Wednesday and guess what – it’s all free! You don’t even have to be a member; just show up for it.
It goes from 5:30.7:30. Talk about getting over the hump on Hump Day!
If you’re still in the party mood when it ends, Saint Rocke is having a Mardi Gras flashback with a Fat Wednesday featuring Hurricanes and a band called Alligator Beach ($7).
SATURDAY – PARTY AT THE G-SPOT, PRANK MONKEY OLYMPICS, THE NVL & THE NFL
• The self-proclaimed “G-Man” is having a BBQ and party at his self-proclaimed “G-Spot” on Saturday. There will be some great Kona beer, bring what you want to throw on the grill and what else you want to drink (more Kona!?) for some good times with good people. Starts at 4:30 and the Rio Olympics will be shown on TV. You know the spot (and if you don’t contact me and I’ll provide it to you).
• A Prank Monkey Thrill. Okay, you’re watching the Olympics on TV and admit it, you want to be there and take part in it, right? But you need sports in which you can compete! Well maybe Prank Monkey has the answer with the Thrill Summer Olympics. There’s Team Spinning, A Medicine Ball Suicide and other interesting-sounding events. Then you go to Thrill Crossfit in El Segundo for a party, then to a bar, Sausal (219 Main St.)
Dress in costume!
Starts at 9:30 and you can enter or just watch. Team entry is $60 total for four people (no more than two men per team to keep it fair). Ticket price includes competition, welcome gifts and beer and whiskey at the first after party. To enter or for questions, send an e-mail to: [email protected].
• The NVL is holding its Hermosa Beach Open Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the HB Pier.
• Football is back in L.A., and it’s not USC or UCLA. Just yet, anyway. It’s the NFL, the Rams hosting the Dallas Cowboys at the Coliseum. It’s at 5 o’clock on ESPN and tickets range from $40-185 on the Rams’ website:
#SUNDAYFUNDAY IN THE SOUTH BAY
The Hermosa Beach concerts continue; it’s week two of four! Take advantage of them while we have them because the next thing you know it will be Labor Day Weekend, the summer will be over and I’ll be locked up on Saturdays for 14 straight weeks watching college football!
Start your SundayFunday with the band Barley – which will be playing KAABOO in San Diego the same day as Jimmy Buffett in September – with the Saint Rocke champagne brunch. There’s three ticket options, ranging from $10-35: the band only, the band with brunch and the band with the brunch and bottomless mimosas.
TRUMP WINE & BEER FESTIVAL TICKET EXCHANGE
The highly-anticipated Trump National Wine & Beer Festival is next Sunday and PubClub.com’s ticket exchange page is full of posts of people looking to buy tickets and with tickets to sale.

AROUND THE WORLD WITH PUBCLUB.COM
Wonder where the biggest party in the world is this weekend? Switzerland, for the Zurich Street Parade! It’s a mobile EDM block party in which DJs play on floats that move throughout Old Town. In Switzerland, you can drink in the streets, too. It goes on for 10 hours. Talk about having to pace yourself during an event – whew!
If you’re wondering about another big party event, Oktoberfest in Munich is Sept. 17-Oct. 3. This, folks, should be on your party bucket list.
