Welcome to the PubClub.com Beach Cities Party Report!

This is for the weekend of Oct. 3-4.
It’s Hometown Fair weekend – one of the best, most fun and top party and singles events of the year is here!
But first, I want to introduce you to the new PubClub.com!!! This stubborn Leo has finally followed the wave of the website world and gone with a WordPress layout.
You will immediately notice it’s a lot more clean and very easy to navigate. To find articles on Hermosa Beach, for instance, simply look under Destinations. Want events like Halloween and New Year’s Eve top party places? Simply look under Events.
The site was put together by imFORZA in El Segundo and they have been sensational. They actually know what they are doing – something that is surprisingly rare as most web companies are far better at talking a good game rather than playing it – and did this for one-fourth the price of the previous designer. Here’s their website; Imforza
Now, onto the weekend party scene!
HOMETOWN FAIR & THE BEER GARDEN

This is one of PubClub.com’s all-time favorite events in the South Bay. The beer garden brings in not just locals but brings back locals who have previously lived in the Beach Cities. So be on the lookout for the “Club 1300 The Strand” reunion (oh my, those were the party days!).
What makes the beer garden so great? YOU! And everyone else in the beer garden.
It’s two days and the massive one is Saturday. It opens and noon and goes until 6, with the last beer served at 5:30. I always say to get to the beer garden by 1 because once it’s full it stays full because nobody leaves the beer garden!
The past couple years that’s not been the case but PubClub.com still suggests no later than 1:30 because why take a chance? You buy beer tickets and they cut those off at 5, so plan ahead by having tickets in advance; there’s always a mad rush to get tickets at the last minute and they are very strict about the cutoff time.
Be sure and check to see if the tickets are good for both days (they usually are) because if you have any leftovers you may be able to use them on Sunday.
We can guarantee at least one girl will be in the beer garden holding a bag with goldfish. She picked this up at the fair then went to the beer garden with the intent of having a few drinks before heading home. But she had more beers than she envisioned, then goes out to the bars and and that once puffy bag is practically deflated. So girls don’t buy goldfish before going into the beer garden!
The weather is going to be sunny and warm – about 80 on Saturday – so it’s going to be another epic Hometown Fair. Sunday it’s cooling off by about 10 degrees.
Here’s all you need to know about the beer garden with lots of fun photos:

HOMETOWN FAIR 10K

A great way to start the day is with the 10K in the morning. This is the first year in I don’t know how long I’m not running it. I’ve been sidelined with a nagging injury to my heel and have been unable to run. When you’re an elite athlete who can run like a deer, injuries are one of the things you’ve got to deal with on occasion.
Anyway, below is a link to the 10K route plus the big unofficial finishing party at Shellback:

BUCCANEER DAYS

Yes I am a pirate…
Also this weekend is “arrgggg” u-ably an even better party than Hometown Fair – Buccaneer Days! This is a huge bash at Two Harbors on Catalina Island in which people dress as pirates and wenches and dance and drink all day on the outdoor deck of the Harbor Reef bar and on the beach.
You must get there by boat (or helicopter) and there’s special Catalina Express ferries running to Two Harbors on Saturday. This is one of those times you wish you could clone yourself to be in two places at once! Here’s more:

Also in the South Bay…
310YP MIXER THURSDAY
The monthly mixer is tonite at the Standing Room in Hermosa Beach. It’s 6-9 p.m. You can register here in advance or just show up; it’s free! Donations accepted for the Toast Our Vets Association.
JEREMY BUCK AT SAINT ROCKE ON SATURDAY
If you’re in the mood to rock after the beer garden on Saturday, then head to Sainte Rock to hear Jeremy Buck and the Bang. They are playing from 7:30-9 and the first 50 people through the door get in for free. Jeremy is due a big pat on the back – or on the top of his hair – on having an incredible six million YouTube views on his “Turn My Ship Around” video. Six million! That’s more views than Auburn’s defense gives up in yards in a game. Phenomenal. Congrats Jeremy and the Bang!
BERRY BLY AT STANDING ROOM SATURDAY
If you’re still standing on Saturday night, Berry Bly’s band is playing at Standing Room, coupled with DJ Quasar (sounds like an old color TV, ha!) Starts at 9. There’s little doubt this will be a good time.
ESTABLISHMENT GOING AWAY PARTY SUNDAY
Sunday is the last night of Establishment. It won its hearing with the Hermosa Beach City Council– by a 4-0 vote – but will be undergoing an ownership change. So go celebrate after the beer garden on Sunday!
SUP AND YOGA ON SUNDAY
The third annual Beyond the Shore Paddlefest, which combines Stand Up Paddleboarding with an attempt to set the Guinness Book Of World Records for SUP Yoga. It’s all day, 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m., at Seasside Lagoon in Redondo Beach.
SOUTH BAY PARTY REPORT ON YOUTUBE
You can check out the Party Report on YouTube. It’s part of the awesome new “What’s The Business” show hosted by local Soul Cole. It’s filmed at Studio 637 in Hermosa and features not just PubClub.com but musicians (this one has a hot Brazilian DJ who plays Hollywood clubs) and movers and shakers in the South Bay and the music and entertainment industries.
That’s it it for the PubClub.com South Bay Weekend Party Report. For this and more go to PubClub.com, Where The South Bay Goes To Party!
