What’s Happening In Hermosa, Manhattan & Redondo Beach

Welcome to the PubClub.com South Bay Party Report! Here’s what’s happening in the Beach Cities of Hermosa, Manhattan and Redondo Beach the weekend of Dec. 3-6.

We’ve crawled out of November and are rolling into December.

Coming off a long Thanksgiving weekend that included a great themed pub crawl and an awesome time with the party bus to USC-UCLA, and with the 12 Bars of Christmas and Manhattan Holiday Fireworks on the horizon, we could use a break in the party schedule.

But that’s not how we roll in the South Bay! There’s a lot to keep us partying this weekend. There’s two holiday happenings on Thursday, and Saturday is a very busy day with multiple events from moon ’till midnight. In the words of Jimmy Buffett, “where it all ends, I can’t fathom my friends.” And that’s’ the way we like it here!

HERMOSA BEACH TREE LIGHTING & REDONDO BEACH STROLL THIS THURSDAY

Two things are on Thursday, in Hermosa and Redondo. In Hermosa, the tree lighting is at 6, Jeremy Buck & The Bang plays at 6:45 and 8:45 and local band Barley is on at 7:45. Then there’s an after-party at Standing Room. (Note: This is NOTHING like the Manhattan Holiday Stroll but it’s festive and of course parallels Happy Hour at the Pier bars.) The tree lighting event is called Rock For Tots and people are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy.

The Redondo Beach Holiday Stroll is also not as great at the one in Manhattan Beach – for one, there’s a lot more families – but you can find some stores serving drinks and people seem to wind up afterward drinking wine at Friends of the Vine.

BIG 10 PUB CRAWL

The 9th annual Big 10 Pub Crawl is Saturday. More than 500 people take part in it, so many that the bars are divided up so everyone can get into them. It’s an advance registration for $10 to get “Big 10 drink specials” with money going to charity. But of course you can just be in the bars and soak up the fun. It’s people from every school, an invasion of Midwestern transplants, building to the Big 10 Championship game, which starts at 5:15. Here’s deets.

HOLIDAY CRAFT BEER FESTIVAL

Also on Saturday, there’s a Holiday Craft Beer Festival at Bay Club, the fitness club on the Redondo/Hermosa border (North Harbor Drive next to Bluewater Grill). It features craft beers from South Bay local breweries, plus food from The Slip, R10 Social House, Captain Kidd’s and Waterman’s. Tickets are $30 if you belong to the health club, $40 otherwise. SHARI ‘EL’ PUORTO CD RELEASE PARTY

Shari is bursting at the seams to sing us songs from her new CD and share them with the South Bay. She’s got a full lineup of people joining her on stage. She’s very proud of the new music and wants everyone in the South Bay to hear it. So go on out and hear Shari’s new songs!

She takes the stage at 9. There’s even great entertainment beforehand, with Barley playing from 6-9. There’s no cover for either.
