An L.A. Solar-Powered Event With Bands
Sunstock Solar Festival will run all evening powered entirely by solar energy.
The festival, which is produced in collaboration with Odd Nights at the Autry, is open to all ages and includes local bands, artists, food trucks, a bar (after all, what’s a music festival without drinks!?) and craft vendors.
The doors open at 4 p.m., and the music starts at 5.
The bands include youthful original bands the Cults (low-key sounds; this band has performed at Austin City Limits), Wavves (hard-driving rock), The Big Pink (original rock) and Trapdoor Social (original rock; has toured the USA on two occasions).
The festival was established to help create awareness for alternative energy sources and eco-friendly practices in the music industry.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. The location is by the Autry Museum of the American West.
“Music has a way of uplifting, re-energizing and inspiring people. If we can create a positive experience that is also pointed towards a cause and a purpose, we can be more effective and we can be re-energized,” said Sunstock Founder Skylar Funk.
“We come together not just to party and listen to music, but because we know that there has to be a change and we want to be part of the solution. “People can come get involved with these non-profits, or even if they just buy a ticket, they are supporting a good cause.”
A bike valet and free parking is available in the Los Angeles Zoo parking lot.
