Los Angeles Restaurant & Bar Features Weekend Bands
The Tam O’Shanter restaurant and bar in Los Feliz features a lineup of different bands on Saturday nights in September ranging from Celtic to traditional Irish, 20s and 30s jig and a vocalist, along with its regular house band the Ploughboys on Thursday nights.
The current lineup of music acts includes:
September 3: Bracken Band. Using a Celtic guitar and a fiddle with a backdrop of a percussionist, the band is influenced by artists like the Pogues, The Bothy Band, Van Morrison, Horslips, The Waterboys, U2, the Chieftans and Alison Krauss.
September 10: Homemade JAM. This quintet brings alive some of the greatest songwriting including jug band music, acoustic blues, popular hits of the ’20s and ’30s and more.
September 17: Jessie Payo. Known for her brilliant vocal ability and inspiring poetic lyrics that capture the American spirit.
September 24: Waking Kate. Traditional Irish music played with modern fire.
Additionally, the Tam’s longstanding house band, Ploughboys, plays every Thursday and on the first Friday of each month. In September, they are not playing Thursday, Sept. 1, but instead on Friday the 2nd.
The bands play from 8-11 in the restaurant’s Ale & Sandwich Bar. There’s no cover and no reservations are not needed.
“One of the best Saturday night activities in L.A. is enjoying music and food at the Tam,” says John Lindquist, General Manager of Tam O’Shanter. “The atmosphere is festive, the crowd is welcoming, and the experience is simply fantastic.”
For food, there’s the Tam’s Ale & Sandwich Bar menu ($14-19), plus the restaurant’s signature hand-carved plates, side dishes, meats which are sliced at the bar’s cheese and charcuterie station.
