Concerts, Wine & Craft Beer Festivals & Sports Are A Big Part Of Livin’ In L.A.

NBA All-Star Weekend.
The Genesis LA Open PGA Tour golf tournament.
UCLA and UCLA basketball.
All this was happening on one weekend in Los Angeles. Oh, and it was 80 degrees at the beach. In February.
When you hear there’s a lot to do in L.A., believe me, that’s a LOT to do in L.A.
Beyond these major happenings, on any given weekend there are some 100 events happening each weekend in this vast area. Everything from art shows (with free beer and wine!) to downtown block parties with bands as big as the B-52s (also free) to a dizzying number of craft beer, wine and food festivals.
Frankly, it’s to the point of being ridiculous.
Los Angeles is everything. On one Saturday, a friend went to the Genesis Open golf tournament in the afternoon and the UCLA-Oregon basketball game at night. On any given weekend evening, there are several sporting events happening (besides all the colleges there are two each of NFL, NBA, NHL and MLS teams), concerts and endless social events.
And it doesn’t even have to be a weekend; somewhere in the vast Los Angeles area, there are multiple events happening pretty much every night of the week. (PubClub.com lists the major ones on the weekly Party Report).
This is in addition to the “normal” activities, such as going to any of thousands of restaurants, cruising the awesome live music bars of the Sunset Strip, going to the beach, driving the canyons, hiking to the Hollywood sign, joining the tourists along the Walk of Fame in Hollywood and even going to the local mountains.
In the winter, you can go skiing and surfing in the same day and that’s not just a tourism slogan, you can really do it (or more reality, wake up in the mountains of Lake Arrowhead or Big Bear and watch the sunset at places like Hermosa Beach). There’s also zip lining on Mt. High and across the Pacific Ocean – as well as the Weeky Wacker rum drink! – on Catalina Island.
As for me, you can find me in Hermosa at sunset. With a beer, glass of wine or rum drink at sunset.
Cheers!
