San Diego’s Top Breweries Participating In Inaugural OTL Event
The fine folks at the Old Mission Beach Athletic Club (OMBAC) know a thing about two about drinking beer and having a good time, and the organizers of the renowned Over the Line tournament are putting on their first craft beer festival.
It’s Saturday, May 20 as part of the first rounds of Over the Line at Mariner’s Point, precursor to the 64th Annual World Championship Over the Line Tournament, which is July 8-9 and July 15-16 at Fiesta Island, Mission Bay Park.
The OTL is one of San Diego’s most famous and biggest social and party events of the year. Tip: if you’re a first-timer to the OTL, go the first weekend, even tho the Miss Emerson contest is the second Saturday.
Many of San Diego’s top breweries are participating in the craft beer festival, including Aztec Brewing, Belching Beaver, Benchmark Brewing, Bolt Brewery, Dos Desperados, Fall Brewing, Helms Brewing, Indian Joe Brewing, Iron First Brewing San Diego, Ironfire Brewing, Left Coast Brewing, Resident Brewing and Second Chance Brewing. Even more are to be announced later.
Additionally, Cutwater Spirits, from the band of liquid pioneers behind Ballast Point, will also be selling craft cocktails. Food is available from local food trucks.
General admission, including the four-hour beer tasting (21-and-over only) is $30 online in advance here on Eventbrite, or $40 at the gate on the day of the festival.
The preliminary OTL Tournament has 125 teams in a double-elimination format. The first rounds take place from 8 a.m.-p.m., on Saturday, with winning teams returning from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., on Sunday. Tournament divisions include: Men’s Pro; Men’s Open; Men’s Masters; and Women’s Open. The entry fee is $120 per team and will increase as the tournament fills up with teams.
The OAMBC is not just a party group; it’s got a heart for charity as big as its taste for beers and fun. For more information on OMBAC charities:
