St. Patrick’s Bash Includes Young Dubliners
While that’s not unusual for a normal weekend night, this one is different because on Saturday, March 14, its the annual ShamROCK St. Patrick’s-themed block party. For 10 hours, the streets are blocked off for a rockin’ party that involves bands, Irish step dancing and other entertainment, a pub crawl and lots of green beer.
The event takes place from 2 p.m.-midnight, on 5th & 6th avenues between Market & E Street. It draws in more than 15,000 people.
The Young Dubliners are playing as part of their highly anticipated 2020 comeback. This Celtic Rock band last performed a decade ago and will be on the The Pint Stage (The Irish Rock Stage). The EC Twins, an EDM pair straight from Manchester, England, will be taking The Clover Stage. Other bands are Brogue Wave, Drunken Lullabies, Finnegan Blue, The Fooks, Leper Khanz and Lexington Field.
Additional entertainment involves an Irish Jig Off, Unicorn races, musical chairs, a streamer relay, a stein-holding contest and something called a Shenanigan Showdown at the Clover Stage. This is a 21-and-over party.
Tickets include discount drinks at participating bars. And of course you can’t get into the bars within the event – such as The Field – without being at the block party.
