In more San Diego Gaslamp nightlife news, Insomniac is launching NOVA SD nightclub in the OMNIA location, as NOVA SD is replacing OMNIA nightclub.
It’s another move in the San Diego Gaslamp Quarter’s nightlife scene that is already seeing some big changes in early in 2022. Earlier, PubClub reported on new places that are open or are being planned, many along Fourth Ave.
Tao Group Hospitality, which operates the highly-successful Tao nightclub and dayclub pool party in Las Vegas known as TAO Beach, is a partner in this adventure.
“We’re so thankful to the thousands of music lovers that have traveled from the San Diego area to our festivals around the country for nearly three decades.” said Pasquale Rotella, Founder and CEO of Insomniac. “We are excited to finally be able to come here and have a home in Downtown San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter.”
The grand opening is set for Friday, Feb. 25. The club features 22,000-square feet of indoor and outdoor space and will feature music and dancing as its main attraction. On opening night, for example, it has the producer behind the album of the same NOVA name, which peaked at number one on the dance/electronic album charts, RL Grime.
Saturday, Feb. 26 will continue the grand opening weekend with six-time GRAMMY Award nominee deadmau5. NOVA SD will continue to transform San Diego’s nightlife scene each weekend, with an expansive lineup of events scheduled throughout March.
The current schedule of NOVA SD events include:
- Friday, February 25 – RL Grime
- Saturday, February 26 – deadmau5
- Friday, March 4 – Jauz
- Saturday, March 5 – Tiësto
- Friday, March 11 – Illenium

The company is certainly no stranger to San Diego. It has hosted many daytime and nighttime events in the area. The most recent was Audiotistic San Diego this past November. Held at the festival grounds at North Island Credit Union Amphitheater, more than 20,000 fans attended this multi-day music festival.
Insomniac’s other venues include Club Space in Miami, Echostage in Washington, D.C., Academy LA in Hollywood. It is probably best known for its signature event, Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas, which is the world’s largest dance music festival that attracts more than 525,000 fans in three days.
Tickets to events at NOVA SD, are available on the club’s website, Nova SD.
