Just a few months after Jimmy Buffett performs at San Diego’s Snapdragon Stadium on May 6, the King of Somewhere Hot will have a presence in the Gaslamp Quarter.
Scheduled to open this summer is Margaritaville Resort in current location of Hotel Solamar. Currently that hotel is undergoing a $31 million renovation.
The Landshark Bar & Grill is taking over the former Jinx space while the 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar will be on the rooftop pool area, which previously was the Upper East bar. The lobby will have a Margaritaville Coffee Shop to help those who got wasted away at the Margaritaville Resort’s bars.
The location is J Street and Sixth Ave. For those wondering about the planned Margaritaville Resort at Paradise Point Resort & Spa in Mission Bay, “that property has been plagued by permitting issues since it was announced in 2019.” according to a Margaritaville Resort press release. “If the transition of Paradise Point Resort into a Margaritaville does eventually go through, which remains unclear, it will be at least a year or more down the road.”
The Margaritaville resorts are hotels with bars, which is different than the Margaritaville Cafe bars, which are stand-alone businesses and often feature live music from local bands.
