National Volleyball League Tournament Features Past And Present Pros & Bar Promos

Summer in the South Bay means beach volleyball, and the biggest of those events are when the pros kick up the sand.

One of those takes place this weekend, the National Volleyball League’s ROX West Coast Championships. Or, as locals know it better, the Hermosa Beach Open.

Play starts Friday at noon, goes all day Saturday and concludes with the women’s final on Sunday at 2:30 p.m., followed by the men’s final at 4 p.m. Among the players are some beach legends, led by 2000 Olympic Gold Medalist Eric Fonoimoana. His playing partner is Mark Palalui, known as the “FLY-N-HAWAIIAN.”  There’s a total of a $50,000 purse.

 

 

 

Of course, pro beach volleyball also brings a party to the pier. The Bud Light party team – and that includes the Bud Light girls – will be out at the bars by the pier on Saturday and Sunday. There are also Bud Light specials at the following spots:
• American Junkie, $4 Bud Lights (AJ also has a weekend Happy Hour from 3-7, with $3 beers and cocktails)
• Fenner’s, $4 Bud Lights
• Sharkeez, $4 Bud Lights
• Waterman’s, $3 Bud Light bottles

The event is free, tho you can buy VIP tickets for $150 for the weekend. That includes on-the-sand seating and hospitality.

And once the men’s final is finished, simply walk to the other side of the pier for the Sunday concert on the beach. What a perfect weekend!
