This Is One Of The Top Events In The South Bay Beach Cities

One of the top events of the Los Angeles Beach Cities takes place on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
It’s Holiday Open House in downtown Manhattan Beach.
What is Holiday Open House, you say? It’s a festive evening when all the cool little shops throw open their doors after dark and welcome in locals, who are strolling around downtown. Some of the establishments serve refreshments and a few of them even offer adult refreshments.
Naturally, the prospect of the latter is what brings out many of the South Bay’s many fun singles. And they (er, we, okay I’ll admit it!), fan out in search of those establishments. Some of them even have DJs. We either text each other when we find something or ask people as we pass them on the streets.
Once we find them, we meet and mingle with shop owners and friends, old and new.
So you see, this is quite the social affair.

Those places used to be easy to find but the drinks are not as prevalent recently as in the past. So of course, we adapt by popping into Rock ‘n Fish, which has half-priced Navy Grogs the entire month of November. And after Holiday Open House concludes – when they open up Manhattan Ave. back up to traffic and take the reindeer back to Santa (yes, there are reindeer!) – we continue celebrating at Ercoles.
Other festive bars on this night (and most nights, frankly) are Shellback Tavern, Strand House and Zinc Lounge in the Shade Hotel.
Holiday Open House starts with the lighting of the pier at 6 p.m., and concludes at 9 p.m. It takes place in downtown Manhattan Beach along Manhattan Beach Blvd., and Manhattan Ave.
DO NOT take any drinks out onto the street; this will shut down the business for the night and let’s just say after a brief discussion with the Manhattan Beach Police, you will not be experiencing a lot of Holiday cheer after a chat with a Manhattan Beach Police officer.
