Smackoktoberfest This Saturday – Almost Sold Out!
What happens when you combine the crazy costumed beach volleyball tournament Smackfest with Oktoberfest? You get Smacktoberfest! So there’s the fun beach volleyball tournament along with a “ein prost” of an event happening, all at the same time and in the same place. It’s Saturday Oct. 9 at Seaside Lagoon in Redondo Beach and involves beer, spirits, some whacky beach volleyball and music. It’s almost sold out and here’s where to get your tickets NOW!

Smackfest Hackfest
It’s the festival season, right, so why not throw in some hackers and have a Caddyshack-style golf tournament. It’s on a Par 3 course at Terranea in Palos Verdes on Saturday, Oct. 23. It starts with a celebratory cocktail at the hotel lobby bar and then a shotgun start. Yes, there are Smackfest-like rules on every hole. The best dressed team wins one of the many prizes, which include closest to the pin. Entry fee is $80/person and gets you golf, goody bag with balls/tees/etc, raffle, prizes, and probably the most fun you’ll ever have playing golf. You can sign up as an individual or as a team of two.

Redondo Beach Rocktoberfest Tribute Bands
Staying in LA’s South Bay, next weekend it’s a three-day tribute to tribute bands in an event called Rocktoberfest. It’s at Seaside Lagoon (a busy party place this time of the year!). Among the tribute bands are U2, Journey, KISS, Van Halen, Queen and the Eagles. It’s all three days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15-17. Tickets are $30 with a three-day pass costing $70. Pumpkin Beer Festival In San Diego
The Great Pumpkin Beer Festival – does that sound like a blast or what!? – is taking place the day/night before Halloween (Oct. 30) in what is a block party in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter. There’s going to be 40 beers, cover bands, DJs and the fun and lively San Diego crowd. Tickets start at $38 and that includes beer tickets.
