It’s the weekend and time for the PubClub.com Party Report!

This highlights events in September while taking a peek into Rocktober.

Lobster Rock This Weekend

Ragin Cajun Cafe in Redondo Beach is hosting a free Lobster Rock festival on Saturday and Sunday. There are four bands on stage in the parking lot from Noon-5 p.m., plus lots of lobster and Cajun-style food with food and drink specials.  No tickets are required – just come on down! The event is hosted by PubClub LIVE!, co-host Soul Cole.

Saturday Schedule:
• Tatiana Erse 12:30-2
• The Roach Kaylor Band 3-4:30
Sunday Schedule:
• Feed The Kitty 12:30-2
• Courtney McKenna 3-4:30

Smacktoberfest Tix On Sale

What happens when you combine Smackfest with a beer and wine festival and some German oompha atmosphere? You get Smacktoberfest! It’s Oct. 9 in Seaside Lagoon.

In a continuation of an event started in 2019 (but not held last year), this is a costumed beach volleyball tournament along with a drinking festival. Not that the regular Smackfest isn’t one of those already, but this makes it official.

For volleyballers, there is the fun division for intermediate-level players, while the Competitive is for more advanced teams. And of course there will be the usual “Smackfest rules.” Costumes are definitely encouraged for teams.

The doors open at 11 a.m and the event ends at 5:30. Volleyball play beginning at 1:30, the playoffs begin at 3 and the finals are at 4:30.  Participation is limited to 21-and-over only. The cost is $50, $200 to field a coed 4’s team.

Speaking Of Oktoberfest… Old Town And Big Bear

Can’t wait until October to raise a large stein and party like you’re in Munich? Anxious to to the chicken dance? There’s two places to do it in the LA area. By the way, Alpine Village is now closed.

Old World In Huntington Beach is a happening Oktoberfest and is especially great for single people. It starts on Sept. 19 – that’s this Saturday! – and runs thru Oct. 31.

For a true Alpine experience, there is Oktoberfest in Big Bear. It is already underway and runs thru Nov. 6.

Amtrak Shut Down Between LA And San Diego

If you’re planning taking the train between LA and San Diego, you’ll be on a bus for part of the way. A shift in the tracks near San Clemente has caused officials to make immediate repairs. It will be closed at least thru the first week of October.
